TWS 2007 summary

Well, yesterday we visited the TWS2007. It was the Israeli "demo" event, organized by our friends from the co.ils. So first of all, it was a great event. They managed to get Shimon Peres up there, and Yossi Vardi, and pretty much all the Internet gurus in Israel I think.

The mingling part was fun. Then came the 10 chosen companies to give their 7 minute pitch. Some of them were cool, and some I didn't quite understand. Seeding my cat? Maybe I'm too old for that. It's hard to try and estimate which ones will succeed, especially those aimed for younger people.

Some interesting technology was shown - I liked the statistics that ClickTale show (although I hope it will not prove to be too much statistics), and G.Ho.St might also have potential. Double Trump was also interesting, especially as a shareware author myself. Maybe I'll give them a try with Square-Off?

I would have liked to hear some notes from the judges - why did they pick those companies? why do you think these will succeed? After all 7 minutes is a very short amount of time. Most companies barely managed to talk about the product, and didn't say anything about the business model, the marketing model, future plans, etc. I felt that some of the companies were not really seeking investment, and were simply looking to get some exposure.

To sum it up - a great event, and well organized. Kudos to Yami and Yaron. I promised to Gil that I won't say the word 'bubble', and I'm happy to say that I managed to avoid it.
