Zend raised 7M$ from TriplePoint
Submitted by ron on July 16, 2008 - 12:47After having layed-off 30 employees this year, Zend has raised 7M$ from TriplePoint, in what is their fifth investment round. Zend is developing tools for the open-source PHP language. The rumors are that this is an investment just before a buyout, possible IBM.
PLYmedia raised 6M$
Submitted by ron on July 16, 2008 - 12:44PLYmedia (platform for interactive viewing of video on the web) has just raised 6M$, in a second round, from Greylock capital, and Elron group. PLYmedia was founded in 2006, and has 25 employees.

Metalgrass software offers free Toolbar for AdSense publishers

Metalgrass software (by Ron Mertens) is now offering a free toolbar for AdSense publishers. The toolbar can monitor the AdSense account, offering easy access to basic statistics. It also include popular links and blogs related to web publishing and AdSense, and a few other gadgets. The toolbar was built using Conduit's platform.
GS New Media to invest 4M$ in new virtual world

Aniboom raises a round B of $10 Million
Submitted by gil on June 29, 2008 - 14:07aniBoom, the premier independent animation network, has just closed a $10 million Series B round of funding led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) and DFJ Tamir Fishman Ventures and existing investor Evergreen Venture Partners. The company will leverage the new financing to expand operations, fund short form premium content for web and mobile platforms, and develop original animation series for television.
aniBoom was founded in 2006 and is led by entertainment and new media veterans- Uri Shinar is the founder and president.
Zango's reply to yesterday's article
Submitted by ron on June 24, 2008 - 10:28Following yesterday's news about Zango laying off 75 employees, we got word from Zango themselves, who say the piece is wrong... It's only 68 and not 75. And they are still optimistic, which is not surprising to hear. Here's their official statement:
Zango's top priority for 2008 has been the planning, development and release of Platrium, a unique casual gaming experience launched in beta last month. During this time, it has become clear that this new product is the future of the company and, as a result, Zango is narrowing its focus.
